Dr. Rand Baird Retires from WFC

The first chair of the World Federation of Chiropractic's Public Health Committee and originator of the WFC's anti-tobacco initiative, Dr. Rand Baird, has stepped down following years of service to the organization. At the time of his retirement, Dr. Baird held the positions of chair emeritus of the Public Health Committee and chair of the Corporate Relations Committee, and remained a faithful attendee of WFC congresses, assemblies and meetings.

DC readers will recall that Dr. Baird was also active in the American Public Health Association (APHA) for many years and helped found the Chiropractic Health Care (CHC) section of the association. He also served as author / editor of Dynamic Chiropractic's long-running public-health column, "Chiropractic in the APHA." Kids Need Chiropractic, Too

Logan University has added pediatrics to the chiropractic services offered at its health centers. Pediatric chiropractic is available as a specialty referral service at the university's three health centers in Montgomery (Chesterfield), Southfield (St. Louis) and Mid-Rivers / 94 (St. Peters), respectively.

"There is growing demand for chiropractic as a conservative health care option for quality of life issues that affect children," said Dr. Clay McDonald, president of Logan University. "The new service incorporates patient care, family engagement and chiropractic student education in the unique academic teaching environment of the Logan Health Centers."

"Working with parents and children to overcome common childhood growing ailments is tremendously rewarding," added Muriel Périllat, MS, DC, who directs pediatric services at the Montgomery center. "Applying simple, natural care to support health body and brain development is essential and in high demand."
