About the Columnist

Dr. Perle operated a practice in New York City upon graduation from Texas Chiropractic College in 1983. In 1987 he earned his certification as a sports chiropractor from the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians (ACBSP), of which he is a past member, and on whose ethics committees he served for many years.

In 1991, Dr. Perle was appointed to the faculty of the University of Bridgeport, where he is a professor of clinical sciences, and an adjunct professor of mechanical engineering. He serves on the steering committee of the University of Bridgeport's Institute for the Study of Values and Ethics, and is chairman of the school's Institutional Review Board for the Protection of Human Research Subjects. Dr. Perle also serves as one of the consultants to the Connecticut Department of Public Health, which reviews complaints against chiropractors.

Dr. Perle received his MS degree in exercise science from Southern Connecticut State University in 2001, with a thesis on the effects of ankle manipulation. He has published on a variety of topics in peer-reviewed literature and chiropractic textbooks, and has served on the faculty of New York Chiropractic College, and on the postgraduate faculty of several other chiropractic colleges.

A member of the Connecticut Chiropractic Association and the American Chiropractic Association, he serves as the Chairperson of ACA's Faculty Council and was awarded ACA's 2004 Academician of the Year. Dr. Perle practices with Connecticut Chiropractic Specialists, LLC, where he specializes in the care of clinical failures.
