ConsumerLab.com Tests Show UAS Lab's Probioplus DDS Met Label Ingredient Guarantees

ConsumerLab.com tested a number of probiotic products, including UAS Lab's PROBIOPLUS DDS, and reported on January 12, 2011 that Probioplus DDS met ConsumerLab.com's quality criteria.

Probioplus DDS manufactured by Eden Prairie, Minnesota (USA) based UAS Laboratories, Inc. has been formulated with probiotic strains: Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bifidobacterium longum, Bifidobacterium bifidum and Bifidobacterium lactis with a label claim of 10 billion CFU (colony forming units) per gram (2 capsules). ConsumerLab tests showed Probioplus DDS met its label claim and was free of microbial contamination. Details of the ConsumerLab's findings are available at their website www.consumerlab.com.

Testing methods used by ConsumerLab:

1. Analysis for the enumeration of L. acidophilus and other freeze-dried lactic acid microorganisms were performed using procedures as outlined in Standard Methods for the Examination of Dairy Products (16th ed.) using a modified De Man Rogosa and Sharpe agar to which L-cysteine enumeration was performed utilizing the glucose yeast extract agar medium.
2. Analyses for microbial contaminants were made using methods from the FDA's Bacteriological Analytical Manual (BAM) and include testing for Escherichia coli, Salmonella spp. Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas Providencia, and Serratia. Testing also included analyses for total yeast and mold.
