Foot Levelers and Chiropractic Community Named to American Red Cross Circle of Humanitarians
The American Red Cross recently honored Foot Levelers and the chiropractic community in their "Circle of Humanitarians" in appreciation of generous giving and support of their humanitarian efforts. Just hours after Hurricane Katrina cut a path of destruction across the Gulf Coast and left the nation facing an unprecedented tragedy, Foot Levelers organized an emergency matching-fund campaign for the American Red Cross.
Moved by the devastating effects of the storm, Foot Levelers' president and CEO Kent S. Greenawalt immediately launched a timely challenge to the people he knew had the biggest hearts: the chiropractic profession. The outpouring of kindness shown by the chiropractic community resulted in a united $572,453 donation to the American Red Cross.
"The chiropractic community showed their care for humanity, healing and wholeness by joining together to help their fellow Americans," said Greenawalt. "As the word got out, both individuals and groups in the chiropractic community organized similar fund-matching campaigns. They challenged the people around them, and they responded. It was fantastic to witness."
Within minutes of the campaign's e-mail and fax announcement, donations of generous amounts started pouring in almost faster than Foot Levelers could tally them. As the excitement spread, chiropractic publications and websites graciously shared their e-mail lists, websites, and publication space for spreading the word. Over two thousand individual contributions were received at Foot Levelers from all over the USA, Canada and Japan. The generous support of donors allows the American Red Cross to continue to be there until the last victim of this storm is helped.
