    Emerson Ecologics Launches New College for America Benefit to Help Employees Achieve College Degree for First Time
    

    

    
	Manchester, NH - October 23, 2014 - Employees of Emerson Ecologics, LLC who have been discouraged from a college degree in the past because of cost or time challenges can now benefit from an innovative new partnership between Emerson and College for America at Southern New Hampshire University, a national nonprofit college designed for working adults.
    

    
	“This new employee benefit with College for America will help our employees and our whole organization be more successful,” said Tracie Sponenberg, SPHR, Director of Human Resources at Emerson, in announcing the degree program.
    

    
	The benefit provides employees with the opportunity to achieve a high-quality associate degree awarded by College for America. The accreditor-approved degree costs far less than a typical college degree (just $2,500 per year), and students are eligible to apply for tuition assistance or financial aid.
    

    
	Typically, an associate degree from College for America takes roughly two years to complete, though some students complete the flexibly paced degree in less time. Students who achieve the associate degree are often in a position to be promoted or take on more responsibility at work.
    

    
	College for America has been widely praised for being more accessible and more affordable than a typical college. Traditional colleges and even most online universities award degrees based on how many classes a student has passed.  In a breakthrough new approach, College for America is instead centered on helping students master key job skills through applied projects that reflect critical workplace skills.  This competency-based approach means that students can set their own pace–advancing very quickly through areas they know and spending more time on areas where they need help.
