The fifth annual Foot Levelers' achievement awards were given to a group of the chiropractic profession's most distinguished leaders at the Parker Seminars in Las Vegas. Foot Levelers' President and CEO, Kent S. Greenawalt, presented the awards in recognition of their outstanding accomplishments.
The three Golden Achievement Awards were given to the following recipients:
The Golden Achievement Award for Chiropractic Research - Dr. Claire Johnson, Clinical Professor and editor. Claire Johnson, MSEd, DC is a Clinical Professor at the Southern California University of Health Science, and the Editor for National University of Health Sciences Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics, Journal of Chiropractic Medicine, and Journal of Chiropractic Humanities. She is currently the Chair of the Chiropractic Research Journal Editors' Council. Dr. Johnson was recognized for her vision and focus, which have led her to excel in chiropractic research and education.
The Golden Achievement Award for Chiropractic Philosophy - Dr. Gerard Clum, President of Life Chiropractic College West. Dr. Clum has dedicated his life to chiropractic. Having served as a college president for over 24 years, he is among the most senior chiropractic college administrators in the world. Dr. Clum has served on the boards of the Association of Chiropractic Colleges, International Chiropractors Association (ICA), Council on Chiropractic Education, Foundation for Chiropractic Progress, World Federation of Chiropractic, 1st Vice President of the World Federation of Chiropractic, President of the Association of Chiropractic Colleges and as Vice-President of the ICA. He was named Man of the Year by Dynamic Chiropractic, Chiropractor of the Year by the ICA, and is a Fellow of the International Chiropractors Association. Dr. Clum is a noted lecturer and author, and is acknowledged as one of the five top leaders of the professors by readers of Dynamic Chiropractic.
The Golden Achievement Award for Chiropractic Commitment - This is the second Golden Achievement Award for Donald Petersen, editor of Dynamic Chiropractic. His first was in 2002, for "the Advancement of Chiropractic through publishing Excellence." Recognized for his determination and dedication to the chiropractic profession, Don Petersen is often referred to as chiropractic's best friend. He serves as a board member to the Foundation for Chiropractic Progress, Secretary of the Council on Chiropractic Guidelines, and as a Trustee and Advisory Committee Chairman for the Chiropractic Centennial Foundation. Don was named an Honorary Fellow of the International College of Chiropractors, the ACA's Humanitarian of the Year in 1991 and 1996, and received the Distinguished Service Award from the American Public Health Association. Don Petersen has a passion for what is right and advises leaders in the profession - he is a major influence in chiropractic.
"The impact to the profession that these three individuals have made, both individually and collectively, is immeasurable." Kent Greenawalt said of the award recipients.
